Parent Counselling
A Space for Support, Understanding & Confidence in Parenting
Parenting is a journey that comes with many challenges. There are times when parents may need a space to receive support, gain a better understanding of what they are experiencing, and work through difficulties in their relationship with their child.
Parent counselling can help parents better understand their child’s needs, recognise the factors that may influence their behaviour and emotions, and explore new ways of communicating and connecting with them.
Supporting parents can contribute to a deeper understanding of a child’s or adolescent’s emotional needs and help create a more supportive and secure family environment.
When Can Parent Counselling Be Helpful?
Parent counselling can be helpful for parents at different stages of their child’s development, particularly when they are facing:
-
difficulties with communication and frequent conflict
-
changes in a child’s behaviour or emotional well-being
-
challenges related to development and transitions during childhood and adolescence
-
difficulties with setting boundaries and managing everyday routines and cooperation
-
academic or social difficulties
-
significant changes in family life, such as divorce, bereavement, or other periods of transition

What Do We Work On in Sessions?
Parent counselling provides a supportive space to reflect on the challenges of parenting, gain a deeper understanding of the child’s needs, and explore new ways of responding to everyday situations. The aim is to strengthen communication within the family and support the development and well-being of the whole family.
In our sessions, we explore:
-
the needs, difficulties, and strengths of the child or adolescent
-
how family members communicate and interact with one another
-
the parenting role, boundaries, and everyday challenges
-
thoughts, concerns, and emotions related to parenting
-
ways to strengthen the parent–child relationship and cooperation within the family
Sessions & Frequency
Parent counselling takes place through individual sessions with one or both parents, depending on the needs and circumstances of each family.
The frequency of sessions is tailored to the family’s needs and the goals of the work together.
